Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical digital media specialist with an editorial background to ensure content quality across Yahoo properties. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, experience in content curation and review, and a passion for maintaining high content standards while ensuring a respectful and safe online environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review digital media content, including articles, images, videos, links, embeds, audio, and user-generated content, for accuracy, style, and overall quality.
  • Verify facts, sources, and references to ensure content is reliable and credible.
  • Conduct thorough content audits to identify and address issues related to clarity, coherence, and adherence to editorial and community guidelines.
  • Collaborate with content strategists, content creators, and moderators to provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Refer to and maintain a content style guide and quality standards, ensuring all digital media content complies with these guidelines.
  • Actively monitor user-generated content, comments, discussions, and community spaces to identify and address inappropriate, harmful, or abusive content.
  • Stay informed about current events, trends, controversies, memes, and other aspects of contemporary culture to ensure that content assessments are appropriately contextualized.
  • Investigate and report potential content and policy violations, such as ad policy violations or community guidelines violations, including hate speech and harassment.
  • Work with cross-functional teams such as moderation and editorial to implement quality improvement strategies and community engagement initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to digital media content quality and moderation and ensure the application of these insights.
  • Collaborate with SEO team to align on strategies.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in media, journalism, communications, writing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in content editing, quality assurance, digital media, and content monitoring such as moderation.
  • Exceptional grammar and language skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with digital media platforms and content management systems (CMS).
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A passion for maintaining high content quality standards and ensuring a safe online community.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends and patterns in content quality and moderation reports.
  • Familiarity with SEO.
  • Familiarity with digital media regulations and guidelines is a plus.

The compensation for this position ranges from $61,875.00 – $128,750.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
