Job Purpose:

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with HR leadership, HR Business Partners, and the legal department, serving as the go-to expert for employee relations matters at Honda. As the Associate Relations Representative, you’ll build relationships across the organization to ensure compliance and consistency in handling conduct issues, policy violations, and investigations, aiming to swiftly resolve workplace conflicts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct timely investigations into policy violations and employee grievances, facilitating resolutions such as coaching, warnings, and terminations. Document all corrective actions and investigations in the designated matter management system.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address inquiries from government agencies (EEOC, FEHA, EDD) promptly.
  • Provide guidance and advice to management, HR, and key stakeholders on sensitive and complex employee scenarios to ensure fairness and consistency in all Associate Relations cases.
  • Stay updated on changes in employment and labor law, compliance issues, and external labor relations climate, educating the broader HR community and recommending policy and practice changes as needed.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify and recommend policy changes/enhancements based on investigation outcomes and trends, as well as opportunities for proactive employee relations initiatives.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Related field, HR Certification desired
  • Minimum 3-5 years of HR experience, with 1-2 years in Associate Relations
  • Familiarity with federal and state employment laws
  • Experience with conflict resolution strategies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Human Capital Management systems (PeopleSoft)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high level of initiative
  • In-depth HR employment law knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
